"They were teaching Transcendental Meditation over there. I am a student of spiritual science and I couldn't make any sense out of it by going on reciting a particular mantra that they assign you to repeat. Not my kind of thing!" - Lara spoke out her concern as we sat in a tea shop outside the cottage after an hour of our first meeting there.

"TM is something that has been given an overly undue publicity in the west as an awareness enhancing technique whereas I always found it to be numbing your mind, exactly the way hypnosis does it to you." - I said as I took a hot sip of tea from my cup.
"West gave a hellish publicity to hypnosis as well thinking it could cure illness whereas it's nothing more than taking an aspirin for your headache that numbs head rather than cure the ache!" - We laughed at the way she had split up headache into its constituent words.

"Mahesh Yogi talks of quietening the mind into pure awareness through limiting the noise of thoughts to the confines of the mantra to recite that is much less active as far as its noise content is concerned, but he forgets that the very act of making the effort to do so makes it a much bigger noise overriding all the noise that his Transcendental Meditation was designed to quieten." - I looked at Lara's face to ascertain if she was getting what I said.

"You sound to be as mad a man as a woman I am. Don't they call you a mad man here since they call me a mad woman there?" - She was looking very intently at my face as she said these words very slowly one after the other after another...!
"East meets west in its madness of non-authoritative spiritual science over here in Kheer Bhawani today." - I said as we stood up laughing together keeping our empty cups on the table.
