Home Health Care in The Himalayas and My First Aid Kit

The way to a man's heart passes through the home health care he gets with a first aid kit or even without it and not through his stomach only, I discovered.

As I moved a little further from there I spotted a man writhing in pain as he was profusely bleeding in his foot - I have forgotten if it was his right foot or left.

I immediately went to him and offered to bandage his wound.

He just looked at me and said a single word not.

I had always carried my first aid kit with me in my rucksack although I never needed even a single thing out of it for my own sake ever, throughout the duration of my long trek for three years at a stretch.

But it was making its use now for the sake of another fellow human being of mine on the planet I was wandering upon.

First Aid Kit

I took my bottle of antiseptic out of my first aid kit and cleaned his wound first. Then I tried to stick a few adhesive bandages over the wound. But they didn't seem to work effectively as the wound was a real big one. I took out my gauze roller bandage and tied it tight over the wound ensuring that the bandage had properly stopped the bleeding for the time being. I also gave him some painkillers to swallow, which he did without saying a word.

After he had been taken the minimum necessary home health care of, I thought of taking his leave and picked my rucksack to move.

But I found the man had taken my hand in both of his and was stopping me from going.

"Why?" - I was a little surprised.

"Doctor, you came to me as God Himself in my bad emergency that it was. I must have you as my guest at least for lunch tomorrow." - he was pointing toward his home on the hill in front of my eyes at a distance of a few kilometers from there.

"I'm not a doctor." - I started laughing.

"Why, what else does a doctor do? We have them there a few kilometers from here but never in my life did anyone of them did such a good bandage as you have done it on my wound. And you gave me medicine as well. It just cannot be that you are not a doctor. You are telling a lie." - he had given his final verdict without a single streak of doubt on his part.

I kept laughing and said nothing. My first aid kit had turned me into a doctor in his eyes and he was not ready to accept that I was not one!

"Right now it has been too late to take you with me. You better take your night rest here only. I'll be leaving for home now but I must see you at my place at lunch tomorrow. I'll wait for you, doctor. There are some other men there in the village too who will like getting some home health care tips from you as well." - he didn't listen to any of my objections and just went his way.

I was seeing a similarity between the savage love of that lady there and the savage love of this man here for me now! They both were the same as far as the way to play the game of life was concerned.

What health tips I was going to give to those villagers the next day, I kept thinking.
